When conditions are solid and firing. Subtle single concave from the nose to the centre of the board, to a slight double concave just forward of the fins to tail exit. The Apex has an exaggerated nose to tail curve to compensate of hollow waves with lower rails than the M1 range for bite in the steepest of sections. Comes standard as a round pin or baby swallow.

Ride the Apex the same width as your M1V4, with 1/8” more thickness to accommodate the lower rail.

Concave:

single | double

A subtle single to double concave means the board will harness all the waves power and give you complete control. Rather than generating speed, this concave harnesses the speed and power you already have from firing beach breaks or reef passes.

Medium Rail

low | medium

The Apex Step Up has low/medium rails with the majority of the boards foam thickness running along the centre stringer line. This allows you to knife into critical sections with unwanted resistance of a fuller rail and also creates a sensitivity when tuning at high speeds.

Rocker

The Apex step up features a smooth full entry and exit rocker to fit into the steepest of wave faces when knifing take-offs or unleashing on a large open face. This rocker has been tested in on the east coast of Oz’s reef slab and heavy water beach breaks, as well as solid days out Cloudbreak, Pipe and G-land.

Fin Set up

The Apex Step Up is custom order only and is recommended as either a 3 or 5 fin. We recommend the Futures Fin Jordy Med and Coffin Bros Med as a thruster and the Pyzel Padillac and Stretch quad fins.
